Wire Wrapping 1

Wrapping a stone with wire.
1) Select a stone to be wrapped. We chose a piece of Malachite.

2) Cut two pieces of wire. Our pieces were 12 inches each of 22 gauge wire. Use more if your rock is larger. Cross the wires at thier centers and twist together.

3) Place the bottom of your stone in the twist, forming the wire around the stone.

4) Bring two wires, one from each end of the twist, up each side of the stone and twist. Making sure that the holes that you create are small enough not to let the stone fall through.

.

5) Continue up the stone alternating wires and twisting. Forming the wire to the stone, making sure that the holes that you create are small enough not to let the stone fall through.

6) Bring one wire from each side to the top center of the stone and bend straight up.
7) Wrap the one of the remaining wires around the two pointing straight up and trim. Repeat with the other wire. Tucking the ends in as you go.

8) Take the two wires that point straight up and create a loop with your round needle nose pliers. Leave a space below the loop for wrapping.

9) Wrap the ends around the base of the wire where you left space. Fill up the space and trim off any extra wire, tucking in the ends. That gives you a finished pendant.

10) If you like you can use your pliers and slightly twist the wire to tighten them around the stone. This creates zigzag curves in the wire.
